The Process

The custom design process takes place in the following steps:

  1. The first step in the custom design process is to fill out the form on the “inquiry” page so that we can get a sense of the specifics of your project and start thinking about how we can help design the perfect wedding stationery for you.

  2. Once you have filled out the inquiry form we will get in touch for a complimentary phone or in-person consultation to chat about the design aesthetic, materials, and print methods you are interested in exploring. We understand that if you’re not working in the stationery or print world then you probably are curious about the different print methods, paper types and finishes that are available to you, so we make time to explain each of these options and allow you to let us know which methods appeal to you the most.

  3. From there, we will send a quote for you to review, typically outlining several packages with different print methods and finishes, depending on your needs. Once you’ve selected the package you prefer we will send you a contract and an invoice for your non-refundable 50% retainer to begin work and start sourcing materials.

  4. Once the retainer is paid, the fun part begins! We begin brainstorming together and I will researching and concept your invitation suite. From there I will put together a moodboard setting the tone for the design direction, materials and color palette, and a set of two “sketch proofs” for you to review.

  5. Once you have chosen the design concept you prefer, I will dive in to the design phase, and provide you with the first “sketch proof,” in which you will be able to get a true sense of the artwork, colors and typefaces, and provide any needed edits to the design or text. Each fully custom design suite includes three rounds of edits, which can include adjustments to the text or minor adjustments to the artwork after the sketch proof has been approved. Edits beyond the three included edits can be made for an additional $50 per edit. My clients typically need no more than 1-2 edits, as we try to get everything perfect right from the get-go!

  6. After you have approved the artwork for print, we will issue an invoice for the final bill and once this is paid everything will be sent off to print! Printing typically takes between two to three weeks to complete and then another week to ship the completed suites back to you. If we are assembling the invitations for you please factor in one additional week for assembly and delivery to you or to the post office.

Timeline

Each custom invitation suite is truly custom - we create all illustrations and artwork in house. As such, we like to schedule ample time for concepting, material sourcing, designing, proofing, revisions, printing and delivery. For that reason we ask for between eight and twelve weeks lead time from when you fill out the inquiry form to when you have the suites in hand. If you do need your stationery in hand sooner than eight weeks out, please make note of that when you submit your inquiry form and we will do our best to assist.

Investment

While the cost of each suite is ultimately dependent on the level of design work, materials, and finishes, the following can serve as a rough range.

Digital Printing | For a set of 100 digitally printed wedding suites that include the invitation and RSVP card printed on high-quality 120 lb Crane’s Lettra, paired with outer and inner envelopes, couples can typically expect to spend between $1500-$1850 before postage.

Letterpress Printing | For a set of 100 four-piece wedding suites, including a one-color letterpressed invitation and one-color letterpressed RSVP card printed on high-quality 120 lb Crane’s Lettra, paired with outer and inner envelopes, the typical couple can expect to spend between $2000-$2200 before postage.

Foil Printing | For a set of 100 four-piece wedding suites, including a one-color foiled invitation and one-color foiled RSVP card printed on high-quality 120 lb Crane’s Lettra, paired with outer and inner envelopes, the typical couple can expect to spend between $2000-2500 before postage.
